the good old days

These are a couple of character sketches I was playing around with.
For a while Kurt and I were juggling around a few ideas for proposed animations, and these are just a couple sketches I got together for you guys to view. I think they were fun, and I would still love to develop these characters further, and perhaps one day get them modeled and rigged.

And I threw in a couple of good reference photos for fun. What amazing inspiration these guys have!! I absolutely love the stiff poses they were always in, it's almost to good to be true!

Maverick Armature and Sculpture

Yo Yo Gang,

I probably look like the biggest slacker, but believe me I've been staying very busy doing work for two films, and trying to get everything together for Maverick.

As far as Maverick is concerned, it is official, he will be the focus of a short film. That's just about all I can tell you at the moment, oh, and also it is going to be a way cool film.

I'm am in the process of creating a full body maquette of Maverick, which I will hand to a modeler, along with all of the necessary drawings, and he should be modeled in Maya within a couple months here.

Thanks for stopping by, and you know I always appreciate a comment so have at it.

Maverick Stone Turnaround

Hello everybody!!
It has been far too long. I've been really busy doing a lot of concept art for an up and coming animation that will be really really cool, I will be sure to post all the art I do for it at an appropriate time.
But I did manage to find some time to come up with a final design for Maverick. This is it!! He is finally done!!!!!!!!! I will be handing this drawing and the final model sheet to a very talented modeler by the name of Gaddy Foster, and he should exist in the virtual world in reasonable timing.

Please tell me what you think, your comments are always appreciated.

Citroen 2CV Modeled! by David Riddle designed by me

So, I did a front, back, and side view of this stylized Citroen 2cv, which I posted on my blog a while ago. I promised I would model it, but I broke that promise and got a very talented modeler, by the name of David Riddle, to do it for me. And he did an excellent job, really capturing the cartoonish, fun feel I envisioned.
I just today handed David some sketches of the interior of the car, and with some slight additional details, and a custom photoshopped texture this bad boy is gonna purrrr. Just wait.

If you would like to check out David's portfolio, you can view it at:

alternate Maverick Stone

This is an entirely different approach to the character. Ultimately the decision I make will be based off of an extensive personality profile I have developed. I hope you enjoy.
Thanks agian for visiting.

Maverick Stone

As some of you might have guessed, I have this weird obsession with the 70's in general, but especially 70's cops. I will be creating a sculpture based off one of the Night Beat characters Mike Goger (fellow animator), Alonzo Alvia (great sequential artist), and I have generated.

I've been doing a huge amount of iterations of the character and am finally coming to a closing point, and will be starting the sculpture in about a week.

These are just a few head constructions I did. Experimentation is a necessity to come up with the best results, which is surely what I hope for.

I will be posting all of the character designs in about a week so be prepared for a H U G E update. And I will keep you all updated with the sculpture as it progresses.

Thanks to all who stop by. Feel free to comment. Let me know which head you favor towards.
